Adam enjoys a broad practice, being instructed on his own or working as part of a team, and welcomes instructions in all the areas of work in which XXIV Old Buildings specialises. He has been called to the Bar of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and (ad hoc) to the Cayman Islands Bar and is frequently involved in offshore/international work in those and other jurisdictions.
Adam enjoys both the contentious and advisory sides of his practice. He is frequently instructed to appear against more senior opponents and has been recognised by Chambers & Partners for several years, where is recommended for both commercial and traditional Chancery work:
(Traditional Chancery): “Adam Cloherty continues to shine at the Chancery Bar. Praised for demonstrating "an ability beyond his years of experience," he has engaged in a string of hard-fought trusts, wills and estates claims regarding assets held in jurisdictions around the world.”
(Commercial Chancery): “The "excellent and very bright" Adam Cloherty is developing an interesting offshore practice. In spite of his relatively recent call (2005), he is already a well established and respected practitioner in company, insolvency and trusts matters.”
Prior to coming to the Bar, Adam worked at the Department of Trade & Industry in the team responsible for the Companies Act 2006 and since coming to the Bar has advised the Department of Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform on the implementation of the Act.
