Trusts and estates have formed a core part of XXIV Old Buildings’ work since its formation. The expertise of our members has achieved a justified reputation in these fields with involvement in many leading cases (e.g. Schmidt v. Rosewood; Foskett v. McKeown) and in the provision of regular talks and lectures.
Especially important is the international aspect of our trust work that is marked by our highly regarded annual seminar on International Trust Litigation held in Geneva. Many of our members regularly work overseas (e.g. Cayman Islands, BVI, Bahamas, the Far East, Channel Islands, IOM) and several are members of the Bar of the Eastern Caribbean. Cross-border trust issues are of increasing importance and this area of work is a particular strength of XXIV Old Buildings.
All aspects of domestic trusts, probate and estates continue to form a substantial part of the practice of many members and their expertise has placed XXIV Old Buildings in the forefront of dealing with the expanding volume of cases involving constructive trusts and contentious probate.
XXIV Old Buildings has recently taken over editorship of Jordan's "International Trust Laws".
