Members of XXIV Old Buildings regularly advise and appear in real property disputes involving restrictive covenants, easements, mortgages and charges amongst other things. With a Chancery background, we are particularly experienced in the areas of law which surround proprietary estoppel/constructive trust disputes and indeed any claims relating to equitable interests in land.
Several members also have experience in landlord and tenant law both in relation to business and residential tenancies, including applications under the 1954 Landlord & Tenant Act and long leasehold disputes. Many such cases involve property development and re-development.
Professional negligence actions arising out of conveyancing mistakes or poor property law advice also frequently come to XXIV Old Buildings. Several members of chambers have appeared in off-shore property disputes, particularly in the British Virgin Islands.
